Imagine all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays condensed into 97 hilarious minutes! That’s just what you get with The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged which is set for a two week run at the Bucks County Playhouse beginning Wednesday, September 19 and continuing through Sunday, September 30, 2007.

An irreverent, fast-paced romp through the Bard’s plays, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged became London’s longest running comedy. Described as a high speed satirical roller-coaster ride, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged features Othello in rap; Titus Andronicus as a cooking show; all of the historical plays as football commentary and Hamlet performed front, back as well as sideways.

Performed by an ensemble of three actors, the cast is made up of three caricatures - a pompous scholar who aims to educate the illiterate masses about the greatness of William Shakespeare, his eager sidekick and the recalcitrant schoolboy-like actor. Adopting an often juvenile but shamelessly funny attitude, the comic trio engages the audience at every twist and turn.

The cast of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged includes three Playhouse favorites: Louis Palena, Jim Lynch and Peter Martino. All three actors have been seen in numerous leading roles over the past 10 years. This season, Louis has played the the Cat in the Hat in Seussical, Bobby Child in Crazy for You and the Leading Player in Pippin. Jim has portrayed Trevor Graydon in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Albert Peterson in Bye Bye Birdie. Peter was seen in Pippin, as Lank Hawkins in Crazy for You and previously played Benjamin Braddock in The Graduate.

The Bucks County Playhouse production of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged runs from Wednesday, September 19 through Sunday, September 30, 2007. Performances are Wednesday and Thursday at 2 PM and 8 PM, Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 4 PM and 8 PM and Sunday at 2 PM. Ticket prices are $23.00 to $25.00. A “Day of Show” discount is available to students ages 21 and under and all active military. Discounts are available day of only with valid identification.
