PIPPIN SET AS NEXT PRODUCTION AT THE BUCKS COUNTY PLAYHOUSE BEGINNING WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 15, 2007

What can you do to distinguish your own life when your father is Charlemagne, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire? The answer to that question and more is found in the Bucks County Playhouse production of Pippin set to run from Wednesday, August 15 thru Sunday, September 2, 2007.

The Tony-Award winning musical, Pippin , is the lively coming of age story of Charlemagne’s oldest son, Pippin. A surprise waits around every corner in Pippin’s quest to find personal significance. Another character known as The Leading Player, is blessed with the gift of magic and narrates the story. Pippin traverses through the trials of war, love, and politics before finding himself out amongst the peasants - away from the wealth and privilege of royal life.

Pippin’s composer, Stephen Schwartz is well known to today’s musical theatre audiences with his current musical hit, Wicked. Another of Schwartz’s masterpieces, Pippin is dazzling and imaginative with songs you’ll remember such as, “Magic to Do”, “Corner of the Sky” and the audience sing-along “No Time at All”.

In the role of The Leading Player is Playhouse veteran, Louis Palena. Bucks County audiences know Louis from many roles over his 12 years with the Playhouse. Just a few of his most memorable characters include the Cat in the Hat in Seussical, the Emcee in Cabaret, Billy Lawlor in 42nd Street and most recently Bobby Child in this season’s production of Crazy for You. Playing the role of Fastrada is another actress who is quickly becoming a Playhouse favorite, Anne Barr. Anne just finished performances as Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Polly Baker in Crazy for You. Last season, Anne was seen as Amneris in Aida and Ellen in Miss Saigon. Heathe Stecklein will portray Pippin. Audiences saw Heathe as Jesus in the Playhouse season opener, Godspell. More recently Heathe was seen at the Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre as Matt in The Fantasticks.
