| GODSPELL OPENS THE 68TH SEASON AT THE BUCKS COUNTY PLAYHOUSE ON FRIDAY, MARCH, 30, 2007
A Bucks County Playhouse Holy Week tradition, Godspell will open the Playhouse’s 68th Season. Beginning on Friday, March 30, 2007, the musical continues for two weekends through Sunday, April 8, 2007. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, Godspell is a whimsical retelling of the last seven days in the life of Christ. The parables of the Gospel of St. Matthew are retold in a contemporary style with Christ’s disciples dressed like flower children. The musical score reflects the sounds of the seventies with such notable tunes as “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord”, “Day by Day” and “Light of the World”. Several Playhouse favorites return to the Bucks County Playhouse stage for this production of Godspell. Tressa McCallister, Jill Palena and Peter Martino will all take starring roles in this production. Audiences have seen Tressa in numerous roles over the past few seasons. Two seasons ago, she played Maria in The Sound of Music, Eliza in My Fair Lady, Agnes Gooch in Mame and Irene Malloy in Hello, Dolly! among others. Louis has been seen in such leading roles as the Emcee in Cabaret and Bobby Child in Crazy for You. Jill Palena was memorable in Hello, Dolly! as Minnie Fay and Peter Martino was seen in the 2006 productions of The Graduate as Benjamin Braddock and The Full Monty as Ethan Girard. This production of Godspell will be directed by Playhouse owner, Ralph Miller. Choreography is by Louis Palena. Louis has provided direction and choreography for the 2006 productions of Aida and Hair. The Bucks County Playhouse Box Office is now fully ONLINE.
