42ND STREET RETURNS TO THE BUCKS COUNTY PLAYHOUSE FOR THREE WEEKS BEGINNING WEDNESDAY, JULY 4, 2007

The Bucks County Playhouse is gearing up for the tap dancing extravaganza, 42nd Street. The classic show business story, 42nd Street begins on Wednesday, July 4 and continues for three weeks through Sunday, July 22, 2007.

42nd Street is the big, bold musical that celebrates the stuff that dreams are made of. Peggy Sawyer, a stage struck chorus girl, gets her big break when the star of a Broadway bound show breaks her ankle. Sawyer is persuaded to take her place where she soon becomes the “Lullaby of Broadway”. Harry Warren and Al Dubin’s musical score is chock full of melodies well known to audiences. Such tunes as We’re In The Money, Shuffle Off To Buffalo and Lullaby of Broadway have become staples in stage, screen and television.

In the role of Billy Lawlor is Patrick Ludt. Earlier this season, Patrick received critical praise for his portrayal of Tony in West Side Story. Previously, Playhouse audiences saw Patrick in such roles as Cornelius Hackyl in the 2005 production of Hello, Dolly! and last season as Radames in Aida and Chris in Miss Saigon. 42nd Street will be directed and choreographed by Playhouse Artistic Director, Stephen Casey. Now in his 10th season as Artistic Director, Stephen just finished directing Crazy For You and has directed and choreographed some of the most critically acclaimed Playhouse productions, including Chicago, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and A Chorus Line, to name a few.
