URINETOWN THE MUSICAL MAKES ITS BUCKS COUNTY PLAYHOUSE DEBUT BEGINNING WEDNESDAY, JUNE 7, 2006
Yes there really is a musical called Urinetown and yes it makes its Bucks County Playhouse debut during the 2006 season. Set for a two week run, Urinetown begins on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 and continues through Sunday, June 18, 2006.
The story of Urinetown centers on a town suffering from a water shortage where citizens are forced to pay for the use of public toilets sanctioned by the Urine Good Company. Anyone refusing to use the public toilets is hauled off to Urinetown from which no one ever returns. Bobby Strong is inspired to lead a charge against the sinister president of Urine Good Company meanwhile falling in love with the president’s daughter, Hope.
With a musical score by Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis, the Bucks County Playhouse production of Urinetown features two actors well known to audiences. Jim Lynch returns to the stage as Office Lockstock. Jim has played a variety of leading roles over the past five season. Last season, Jim played Will Rogers in The Will Rogers Follies and George Bailey in the season closer, It’s A Wonderful Life. Previously, he received rave reviews for his portrayals of Billy Flynn in Chicago and Josh Baskin in big and Julian Marsh in 42nd Street. Also returning to the stage is Eva DeVirgilis who played opposite Jim in big as Susan Lawrence. Urinetown will be directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Stephen Casey who has done the same for past productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, 42nd Street, A Chorus Line, Chicago and many more.
