MISS SAIGON MAKES ITS DEBUT AT THE BUCKS COUNTY PLAYHOUSE FOR TWO WEEKS BEGINNING, JUNE 28, 2006

The musical Miss Saigon takes the Bucks County Playhouse stage for two weeks from Wednesday, June 28 thru Sunday, July 9, 2006. The epic musical promises to be a highlight of the Bucks County Playhouse season and will return in the fall for another two week run.

With music by Claude-Michel Schonberg and lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. and Alain Boublil, Miss Saigon is described as a ‘modern’ adaptation of Puccini’s Madame Butterfly. Taking place in the years 1975 through 1978, the action revolves around a post-war Vietnam and tells the story of an American GI who meets a beautiful Vietnamese war orphan in a Saigon brothel. The two embark on a physical relationship and reluctantly fall in love. The GI is forced to return to the United States and the two struggle to deal with the emotional aftermath of their affair.

Heading the cast of Miss Saigon is Patrick Ludt as Chris. Playhouse audiences saw Patrick in several roles last season, most notably as Cornelius Hackyl in Hello, Dolly! with Colleen Zenk Pinter and Mark Pinter last October. Also in the cast is Lesly Tyrell Donald as John. Lesly was seen previously on the Playhouse stage in Smokey Joe’s Cafe. This production of Miss Saigon is directed by Michael Licata who just directed this season’s productions of Into the Woods and The Graduate. Playhouse Artistic Director Stephen Casey choreographs Miss Saigon. He has choreographed numerous production over his past 10 years, most notably, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Chicago and this season’s Seussical the Musical.
